With my aim of achieving 500 premieres firmly in mind at all times (….when not partying with supermodels and… going quail hunting and shopping for Bentleys, I mean), I do feel it increasingly necessary to take a risk and seek out smaller events with ambiguous labels like “gala” and “screening” and “fan event” and see if they might end up qualifying for a precious +1 entry into my archive.
So… a gala screening of a movie set during the Irish Potato Famine at a cinema I’d never been to a premiere for? Sign me up! Here’s how it went down:
So… that was that : a pity about the non-attendees (Barry Keoghan, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Rea, Freddie Fox) - and a pity this is how I choose to spend my time - but this was a Gala Screening, not a premiere, and I had nothing better to do this evening. And in any event, the addition of Lily James to any life is a satisfactory compensation. (If nothing else, because I can watch Pride & Prejudice & Zombies in parallel while editing…), as is adding another even to the Archive of Premieres.
And tomorrow? BIG premiere. Apparently. Until Then!
PS. if you ever want to follow me and laugh while I make a fool out of myself and not really care overmuch about looking terribly uncool at events, feel free to follow me on Twitter, or Facebook, or whatever it is that all the cool kids are doing now that I’ll find out about in six or seven years when they’ve all moved on.
