26 Aug 2019 - The 'For We Are Many' Frightfest Premiere

August 26th 2019.

JOURNAL UNDER CONSTRUCTION (please wear appropriate safety gear) - I haven’t identified everyone yet. But it’s been/being a long day, what with somewhere between 2 and 6 premieres on the cards!

Here’s how this one went down:

I think we can all agree that The Sound Of Music is the most terrifying of those prospective Frightfest movies…

That small table over there sells LaLaLand soundtracks… I’ve bought nine already and I am eyeing my tenth. For… symmetry and neatness’ sake, primarily.

No, my jeans-and-black-t-shirt combo doesn’t quite strike terror into the Frightfest crowds as efficiently as… embroidered flowers? (I believe this is actress Faith Knight?)

Flannel shirts? … Once again I’ve been caught flat-footed, fashion-wise, at Frightfest.

“Seriously, bruv. Lend me your shirt. I need that flannel look.” ”No way, bro - You went formal. You wear the consequences.”

I don’t know who this is, but I don’t think he was photographed with the main group and on the off chance his look of chilled intensity hides a seething resentment, I’m putting him in this journal. Until those eyes tell me I’ve made a huge mistake I must immediately rectify.

“I always wonder why nobody spills pools of blood or fish guts on the floor for a bit of colour at this thing….” - the Cineworld (which actually also shows regular films during the festival) would probably have one or two things to say about that. Many of them stern, like with lawyers.

“Is this thing broadcasting live? Excellent - let me outline the basics of my manifesto… it’s going to sound slightly more violent than you might expect, but remember : I’m wearing a flannel shirt”

“He said I’m not a natural Baritone? Here… let me SHOW you what a natural baritone sounds like” This, incidentally, is Nicholas Vince, who is in this film and also best known for being “Chattering Cenobite” in the first two Hellbound films (and…. I actually get that reference!)

“He wore a polo shirt. Let’s never speak to him again” ”But he’s carrying my backpack” ”Okay, then YOU speak to him”

Side-note : I kind of like the Huawei P20’s nighttime mode - if you can somehow find 4-6 seconds of minimal movement in front of you, the HDR effect is pretty good (this endorsement brought to you by somebody who also thinks the phone’s fingerprint recognition is effing pathetic) Main Note : Man In Centre is Lawrie Brewster, one of the directors of the multi-segment film.

“Fine… fine… not Baritone, then. But Contralto, baby….” The limitations of my knowledge of human vocal range are being steadily revealed. (aka. Is Contralto Even A Thing? pretend I don’t have google.)

“And nobody even noticed…..” Still.. the humidity in the place would have been a bonus.

So, that was that…. or part 1 of 6 of that, at any rate.

Although I still don’t know who these people below, interviewed before the start of this premiere, are/were:

“Well… we’re here to promote, certainly…..”

Until next time!
